Desire to be an Armenian seized Gérard Depardieu in Yerevan

The renowned actor revealed something Armenian in himself and proposed to an Armenian beauty.

Thousands of fans could not believe the news that the legendary Gérard Depardieu will visit Yerevan unless they saw this man, great in all senses, on the Armenian land.

PanARMENIAN.Net - He appeared with a cane, walking hardly, causing whisper about his bad health and age. Nevertheless, whispering gave place to admiration when people learned that Depardieu arrived in Yerevan with metal bypasses in his leg, a day after he had been operated on. The pain, which put the actor in a bad mood periodically during the visit, could not make him change his plans.

Depardieu met with Armenian President Serzgh Sargsyan, parliament speaker Hovik Abrahamyan, gave a press conference, visited Parajanov museum and attended the award ceremony of Karot 2010 Festival, which brought together a number of Russian stars – Emmanuil Vitorgan, Alexei Petrenko, Igor Kostolevsky and some others – as well.

The legend was honored with Karot award, medal of honor of the Armenian National Assembly and was gifted a silver jug by a famous Armenian jewellery house, all this accompanied by warm and sincere words.

Unable to conceal emotion, Depardieu said, “Armenians are the people of Universe. All my Armenian friends are like you, with kindness and tolerance in the eyes. This moves me to tears. I do not know much about Armenia’s geography but I saw photographs and understood that this is the land of future for you and your children.”

Moreover, the actor revealed something Armenian in himself and proposed to an Armenian beauty, actress and presenter Gayane Aslamazyan.
