The Cut, a film by Fatih Akin, a German director of Turkish descent, centers on a survivor of the Armenian Genocide, Nazaret Manoogian, who lost his family and learnt years later that his twin daughters may have been left alive. He goes on a quest to find them and eventually reaches North Dakota. The 138-minute English-language film is scribed by Akin and ethnic Armenian Mardik Martin. On January 30, Yerevan hosted a private screening of The Cut. In a conversation with PanARMENIAN.Net, Akin spoke about the film, his position on the Armenian Genocide and more.

Almazian Symphony ensemble directed by Armenian violinist Khachatur Almazian and Serbian cellist Tamara Savic recorded an OST to Emir Kusturica’s “On The Milky Road” starring the Serbian helmer and Italy’s sweetheart Monica Bellucci. Almazian Symphony released its first album in 2013 in France, in cooperation with Sony Music Entertainment and France TV National.

Dr. Roger Craik, Associate Professor of English at Kent State University, Ashtabula, visited Yerevan at the invitation of the American University of Armenia to give a series of lectures on the craft of writing poetry. English by birth and educated at the universities of Reading and Southampton, Dr. Craik has worked as a journalist, TV critic and chess columnist. Before coming to the U.S. in 1991, he worked in Turkish universities and was awarded a Beineke Fellowship to Yale in 1990. His poems have appeared in Romanian, and from 2013-14 he is a Fulbright Scholar at Oradea University in Romania.

Popular Swiss band Aliose is currently performing in Armenia within the framework of Francophonie season; this is Switzerland's contribution to the month of Francophonie (mois de la francophonie) organized in Armenia. The concert is initiated by the Swiss Embassy in Armenia in collaboration with KASA Foundation. Aliose was founded five years ago as a duet, with new members joining the band later. Director, actor, script writer and animator - all this is not enough for characterizing Eduard Nazarov, painter and director of Winnie the Pooh (1969), Winnie the Pooh Goes Visiting (1971) and Winnie the Pooh and the Blustery Day (1972). The great artist was visiting Yerevan in the frameworks of Fifth International Festival of Children's and Youth Films. An interview with him came to reveal that heroes of favorite cartoons necessarily shred common features with the author. Unfortunately, Nazarov's illustrations no longer used in tales and poems about Alan Alexander Miln's hero.
