Hollywood shoots film about Vardan Mamikonyan and Avarayr Battle

PanARMENIAN.Net - Director Roger Kupelian's film on "East of Byzantimum or Mamikonyan's Battle for Faith" is being shot in Hollywood. It features the history Avarayr Battle, one of the most large-scale fights in the history of Armenians, French journalist Jean Eckian reported to PanARMENIAN.Net Armenian General Benevolent Union (AGBU) has already expressed willingness to assist in film shooting, and System of a Down soloist Serj Tankian has agreed to write a sound track.

Avarayr Battle took place on May 26, 451, when 66 thousand-member Armenian troops led by Vardan Mamikonyan met with the Persian army consisting of 220 thousand fighters. Vardan Mamikonyan died a heroic death. However, met with Armenians' furious resistance and suffering great losses, Persians had to cease encroachments upon the Christian land and national identity of Armenians.
