Naregatsi Art Institute launches exhibition in celebration of artist Koryun Nikoghosyan's 70th anniversary

PanARMENIAN.Net - Exhibition in celebration of artist Koryun Nikoghosyan's 70th anniversary opened in Naregatsi Art Institute on Thursday to last till December 8.



The exhibition will showcase Nikoghosyan's works of different years.



A documentary film about the life and works of Koryun Nikoghosyan will be screened during the exhibition.



Koryun Nikoghosyan was born in Yerevan in 1939 and passed away in 1976.



Over the 37 years of his life, Koryun Nikoghosyan created over 100 pieces which were exhibited in Armenia, Russia and Denmark. His works are now a part of a permanent exposition at the artist's house museum. During the last years, bedridden, the artist created with the help of his mother. Nikoghosyan expressed his thoughts and sentiments using warm, bright colors. His main subject of inspiration was life as it is abundant with love and sadness. Acclaimed painters like Martiros Saryan, Minas Avetisyan and others highly praised Nikoghosyan's art.



Appreciating the artist's talent, great Armenian painter Martiros Saryan once said, "What astonishes me is that Koryun reached professional success without relevant education or any advice or assistance from local painters. He uses up to-date artistic methods to reflect his thoughts on canvases."
