President of the Board of Vaspurakan union of compatriots Gagik Baghdasaryan opened the conference, reading out Yerevan Mayor Gagik Beglaryan’s welcoming speech. “The conference will last for three days and it is dedicated to the 2865th anniversary of the first record of Van. Thus, we are connecting the first and last capitals of Armenia,” Vice-President of Vaspurakan union of compatriots Harutyun Marutyan told a PanARMENIAN.Net reporter. He added that 39 reports of Armenian scientists and Armenologists of other countries, including Head of Armenian Studies Chair at the UCLA, Professor Peter Cowe, researcher of Mkhitarist Center of Paris Tork Dalalalianwill, though he will not participate in the conference personally, as well as Armenologist from Isfahan Mohammed Melik-Mohammaddi, will be delivered during the conference. All the reports will be in Armenian, said Marutyan, adding that a book of the best reports is planned to be published next year based on the conference results.
