UN, UNESCO may announce the year 2012 as Sayat-Nova Year

PanARMENIAN.Net - Preparation for the program of events timed to the 300th birth anniversary of great Armenian ashug Sayat Nova to be celebrated in 2012, was launched last year, according to Sayat-Nova ensemble art director, the founder of Jivani ashug school Tovmas Poghosyan.

As he told a news conference in Yerevan, a program of concerts in Armenia, Artsakh, Javakhk and Diaspora countries, as well as an international festival and scientific conference to be organized jointly with UNESCO are on anniversary celebration agenda.

The year 2012 may be announced Sayat-Nova Year on suggestion of UN and UNESCO Office in Armenia, Poghosyan stated in conclusion.
