Iranian family drama wins Golden Bear at 61st Berlinale

PanARMENIAN.Net - Iranian family drama, “Nader and Simin, A Separation” won the Golden Bear at the 61st Berlinale.

Asghar Farhadi’s film touches upon the problems of Iranian society, its conservatism and the gaps in the juridical system. It is about a disintegrating marriage, which highlights a clash between traditional and modern ways of living and thinking.

The focus at this year’s Berlinale was that Iranian director Jafar Panahi was invited by the Berlinale to join the jury but shortly before the festival he was arrested and banned for 20 years from his profession. The Berlinale therefore kept his seat in the jury vacant.
