Eurovision 2011: small protest action of Boom-Boom song opponents held in Yerevan

PanARMENIAN.Net - On March 11, near the building of the Armenian Public TV, fans of Eurovision song contest held a protest action against the selection of song Boom-Boom to be performed by Armenia’s Emmy at the contest in 2011.

51 people participated in the protest action.

The administration of hateboom-boom.do.am website said in its statement that “all this is done so that Armenia is represented at the contest to the best advantage.” The statement also says that “fans of the contest consider song AYO to be better.” According to them, the song AYO has more chances to win the contest than the song Boom-Boom.

“The decision to hold a rally against the selection of the song Boom-Boom for Eurovision 2011 is purposeless, as the song has already been selected,” head of the Armenian delegation to Eurovision 2011 Gohar Gasparyan told a PanARMENIAN.Net reporter.

According to her, the song selection is fair and is not liable to variation.

“If someone does not like this song, it does not mean that it will not be presented at Eurovision,” said Gasparyan.

At the same time she praised the fact that many Eurovision fans are fervent about the song selection in Armenia.

Earlier Gasparyan reported that 7,715 SMS messages were sent during the song selection contest in Armenia. The song Boom-Boom was supported by 3,219 votes (41.7%), the song AYO - 2,422 (31.39%), the song Hay – 1,535 (19.90%), and the song Goodbye – 539 (6.99%).
