The European Parliament, since 1987, had on numerous occasions recognised the reality of the genocide and since then, continually asked Turkey to do the same.

The parties noted that cooperation between the CIS countries is rather productive today.

Jacques Vantomme has confirmed the EU readiness to allocate 100 million euros to Armenia for securing electrification of the republic by means of alternative electric power sources after the closing of the Armenian Nuclear Power Plant.

"I think the CIS has fulfilled its role," Serge Sargsian stated.

The message specifically notes the fact that the US Ambassador to Armenia John Evans has stated "the Armenian Genocide was the first one in the 20-th century."

The interlocutors discussed a range of issues concerning the CIS reform.

The Armenian Parliament has approved his candidacy by majority of votes.
