Umar recently wrote a piece critical of Erdoğan for the Dutch daily Metro, extracts of which she then tweeted, leading to her arrest.

Asked about the stage the relevant agreements are in, the official assured that no problems are to be expected.

“There are indications that the Bundestag will adopt a joint resolution on the Genocide and Germany’s responsibility,” Ozdemir said.

Yiannakis Omirou recalled that the House has adopted numerous resolutions recognizing and condemning the Genocide.

Some 1000 activists arrived in the Dutch capital to participate in the event, protesting Turkey’s denialist policy.

The annual Armenian Genocide commemoration took place on Friday, April 22 at the Alex Theatre in Glendale, California.

The rally participants were holding pictures of outstanding Armenians murdered on April 24, 1915, urging Turkey to face its history.
