Boxing: Carl Froch has drawn confidence from Arthur Abrahams’s recent disqualification loss to Andre Dirrell when Abraham struck the American after he had slipped to his knees. “I thought it was a boxing masterclass from Dirrell in every department. It was a devastating punch for Dirrell though and one that will knock his confidence. He was clearly badly hurt after the fight. It would have been much better to win on points because he did a good job overall and showed the blueprint on how to beat Abraham and I’ll try and do a similar thing,” Froch said.

Meanwhile, the battle over fight location for their showdown in the third stage of Showtime's Super Six tournament continues. The latest offer thrown on the table from Abraham's promoter, Kalle Sauerland of Sauerland Event, would see the event take place in a bull ring in Majorca. Froch quickly turned it down. "I don't fancy that," Froch said. "What about the heat?"

Tennis: Coach of the Argentine Davis Cup team Modesto Vazquez appointed six players for the quarterfinal against Russia from July 9 to 11 in Moscow, according to David Nalbandian’s official website. Vazquez summoned Nalbandian, Monaco, Leonardo Mayer, Horacio Zeballos, Eduardo Schwank and Federico Delbonis. Meanwhile, Juan Martin Del Potro is recovering from a surgery in his right waist so he is discarded to play. David Nalbandian has sent Argentina into the Davis Cup quarterfinals by defeating Sweden's Andreas Vinciguerra in the last reverse singles for a 3-2 series win.

Hockey: At recent International Ice Hockey Federation meeting, Armenia was suspended indefinitely due to eligibility issues with their men’s national team that participated in the 2010 IIHF World Championship Division III Group B in Yerevan, Armenia. The Armenians used several ineligible players and are suspected of having submitted wrong information about players of American-Armenian dual citizenship. The results of all games involving the Armenian team do not count for the tournament. As IIHF Communications Director, Szymon Szemberg told a PanARMENIAN.Net reporter, disqualification is not for individual players, but the whole team. Zero points in ranking is due to the disqualification. A final decision will be taken upon full completion of the investigation. Earlier, RA Hockey Federation President Hayk Jraghatspanyan stated IIHF final resolution will be announced during September sitting.

Wrestling: Levon Julfalakyan Greco-Roman Wrestling Championship, which brought together 40 wrestlers from Armenia, Russia and Georgia, completed in Yerevan on May 30. The winners are: Gor Nersesyan (weight class 55kg), Davit Khachatryan (weight class 60kg), Gevorg Sahakyan (weight class 66kg), Ruben Gharibyan (weight class 74kg), Arthur Aleksanyan (weight class 84kg), Tornike Makharadze (weight class 50kg) and Vrezh Harutyunyan (weight class 120kg).

Olympiad: Armenia’s Vasil Shahnazaryan finished 2nd at 2010 European Archery Tournament, thus securing his participation in the Youth Olympic Games to be held in Singapore from August 14 to 26. Before, 2 weightlifters, 2 wrestlers, 1 athlete, 1 judoist and 1 shooter won international tournaments to participate in the Olympic Games.

Athletics: Armenian team won 1 gold and 2 bronze medals at international athletics tournament in Istanbul. Gold medalist Satenik Hovhannesyan showed the result of 5,43 meters in the long jump discipline. Narek Khachatryan and Eric Porsughyan came third in 100 m sprint

Fencing: Kutaisi, Georgia, hosted international fencing championship with Armenian, Georgian, Turkish and Azerbaijani sportsmen participating. Armenian fencers performed successfully, gaining 7 medals. Armen Gasparyan and Gevorg Harutyunyan came 1st and 2nd in rapier fencing discipline. Spartak Harutyunyan excelled in sword fencing discipline, followed by Robert Khachartyan. Susanna Ghazaryan won women’s rapier fencing tournament; Hasmik Aghababyan and Manik Hakobyan came 3rd in the same discipline.

Judo: Armenia’s Arsen Gevorgyan (weight class 42kg) and Harutyun Dermishyan (weight class 46kg) won bronze medals at a youth international judo tournament held in Georgia from May 31 to June 2.
