Armenia enters period of government reshuffle

Representatives of the ruling Republican Party of Armenia assure that all dismissals are grounded.

Spokesman for the Armenian President was right to predict government reshuffle.

PanARMENIAN.Net - Resignations followed one another over the past week. First, the Minister of Justice was sacked for improper performance of his duties.

Minister of Finance replaced the Minister of Economy, while vice chairman of the Central Bank of Armenia assumed the duties of the chief financier of the country.

Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan assured that reshuffle in the government will facilitate implementation of reforms. “We will be able to concentrate on solution of the problems we face and cement our achievements,” he said.

Will these changes help improve the situation? According to Heritage party board chairman Armen Martirosyan, Armenia experiences problems with continuity of policy. “The latest government reshuffle is a preparation for the next parliamentary and presidential elections,” he said.

Meanwhile, representatives of the ruling Republican Party of Armenia insist that all dismissals are grounded.

The situation in Armenia resembles the period of resignations in Georgia, when President Mikheil Saakashvili decided to dismiss top officials to improve the political and economic life in the country and strengthen his positions. To be honest, Saakashvili achieved progress: favorable conditions for establishing business have been created, enterprises engaged in priority sectors of economy are exempted from taxes, specifically the field of information technology. According to many experts, foreign investors prefer to establish business in Georgia. And, probably, the Armenian authorities should hurry up to take action not to miss all opportunities.
