Armenian capital market underdevelopment protects it from severe impact of economic crisis

PanARMENIAN.Net - Although the global financial crisis affected all economy sectors, it doesn't mean that investors will stop looking for new markets.

Underdevelopment of the Armenian capital market protects it from the severe impact of economic crisis. Under the circumstances, the Armenian government, Central Bank and NASDAX OMX Armenia stock exchange launched an initial public offering (IPO).

"Successful initial public offering will bring new participants to the capital market. 200 people have already signed for purchase of shares of Artsakh hydropower plant to the amount of AMD 150 million," NASDAX OMX director Armen Melikyan told a news conference today.

"The risk is minimal. All advantages and disadvantages will be taken into account by other companies, which will come to the capital market," he said.
