SCPEC chairman to participate in International Competition Network conference

PanARMENIAN.Net - The chairman of State Commission for the Protection of Economic Competition (SCPEC), Artak Shaboyan left for Turkey to participate in Annual Conference of the International Competition Network.

Meetings with UNCTAD, OSCE and WB experts are on Artak Shaboyan’s agenda.

9th Annual Conference of the International Competition Network (ICN), which is hosted by the Turkish Competition Authority, will take place in Istanbul from April 27th to April 29th, 2010.

Within the framework of the Annual Conference of ICN, one of the most prestigious platforms in the area of Competition Policy and Law, projects and studies by Working Groups that are consisted of the member representatives of ICN will be presented, as in the previous years, to the evaluation of interested groups. The conference will include different types of sessions in order to ensure utmost efficiency and in this context; it is projected that sessions with different structures such as plenary sessions, feedback sessions and structured debates will be held.

As of April 9, 2010, 483 participants from 81 countries were registered. High-level representatives from competition authorities of all developed and developing countries which have competition laws are among the participants. Moreover, academics and consultants working in the area of competition law and policy will also attend the conference.

The Annual Conference of ICN will discuss the following topics: Digital Evidence Gathering in Fighting Efficiently against Cartels and Effective Handling of Cartel Files; Recommendations for Market Definition and Failing Firm Defence Analysis in Mergers and Acquisitions; Refusal to Deal within the Framework of Abuse of Dominant Position; Strategic Planning, Prioritization and Efficient Management of Examination / Inquiry / Investigation Files for Competition Authorities; Principles for Market Studies and Storing the Data Obtained.
