Development of tourism in south of Armenia to double tourists’ inflow

PanARMENIAN.Net - Tourists to Armenia usually visit the north of the country, as southern territories are almost unavailable. RA National Competitiveness Foundation aims to implement a number of programs for tourism development in Noravank, Jermuk and Tatev, NCF executive director Bekor Papazyan stated.

He forecasted double increase of tourists’ inflow within 5 years of program implementation.

Papazyan briefed on development programs, including Tatev monastery restoration, creation of tourist center in Jermuk, as well as possibilities of ecotourism development in Noravank.

According to RA National Statistical Service, rate of tourists inflow in 2010 increased by 9,4% as compared with 2009 index, to comprise 92 955 visitors.
