Kristen Roupenian's short story collection out now

PanARMENIAN.Net - A short story collection titled "You Know You Want This" by a relatively unknown author named Kristen Roupenian was published recently.

Roupenian, who has Armenian roots, had one of her short stories - "Cat Person" - published in The New Yorker back in 2017.

Within a week after the publication, the Harvard PhD had landed a seven-figure two-book deal.

Published on December 11, “Cat Person” was the second-most-emailed page on the New Yorker’s website in 2017.

According to the book's description on Amazon, it was named one of the most anticipated books of 2019 by Vogue, The Huffington Post, Entertainmenq Weekly, Porewow, Refinery 29, marie Claire, Bustle and many others.

The book is already in development at HBO as a series, with The Leftovers scribes Carly Wray and Lila Byock attached as writers and executive producers.

“Cat Person” centres on a date between Margot, a 20-something female college student, and Robert, a 30-something doofus. Their romantic misalignment culminates in an undesired but seemingly obligatory sexual encounter (Margot doesn’t really want to have sex at one point, but determines to “carry through” with it anyway).
