Armenian, Artsakh ICT leaders hold a meeting in Stepanakert

Review of October 4 - 11 information technology and telecommunication events.

Stepanakert hosted ICT leaders’ conference on development of technologic enterprises in Armenia and Artsakh and implementation of electronic management systems. Over 30 ICT companies, 80 representatives of international organizations and business sector were invited to participate.

PanARMENIAN.Net - Rostelecom OJSC and GNC Alpha telecommunications operator have signed a service agreement, allowing GNC Alpha to act as exclusive partner to promote Rostelecom’s IP-transit, internet access and channel leasing services in Armenia. According to GNC Alpha general manager Hayk Farmazyan, it’s the right time to launch services in the republic. “The project is very important,” said Anton Kolpakov, Rostelecom’s senior vice president. “Our company collaborates with 400 international organizations and this project is a part of its strategy.”

TelCell payment system has announced that from now on Arminco, U!Com and FastNet’s service users can make payments through TelCell terminals. The minimum payment amount is AMD 100 and maximum is 60 000. No commission is taken.

Zoravar Andranik N5 School in Armavir region of Armenia hosted opening of a computer class. The equipment provision was sponsored by South Caucasus Railway, GeoProMining Company, GNC- ALFA network services operator in Armenia and Rossotrudnichestvo Armenia with the assistance of Russian Embassy in Armenia. The modernization of the computer class was implemented in the framework of a program aimed at provision of 240 Armenian schools with Hi-Tech equipment.

* Vizerra project by Arman Gukasyan, the CEO of 3DreamTeam Company is the runner up at Business Project 2010 contest, announced by Google and Forbes Russia. Within five months e-business start-ups were registered for the contest with over 150 projects claiming the victory. A variety of portals - new social networks for dating and auto enthusiasts, sites for recreation, job search and assistance in the activities of small businesses, along with many other innovative startups were presented.

ArmenTel (Beeline trademark) granted computers to five schools of rural communities in Ararat region of Armenia. The regional administration hosted a ceremony of granting computers to schools of Zangakatun, Lanjar, Lusashogh, Dashtakar and Shaghap.

ArmenTel announced a new action. Within action framework, ZTE-G S319 and ZTE-G S315 brand mobile phones will be sold for AMD1. The action is available for purchasers of SIM card within For You-Exclusive or regional tariff plans after topping up the number with AMD 3000.

The RA Public Services Regulatory Commission (PSRC) provided GNC-Alfa company with 6046 non-geographical code and relevant numbering capacity, as well as 4-233-2 domestic long-distance code to provide fixed-line telephony services in Armenia. Under the Commission’s decision, the company should secure usage of at least 60% of the obtained numbering capacity, the PSRC press service reported. Otherwise, the code usage will be considered inefficient, while the PSRC may withdraw the unused numbers.

Orange launched the first internet shop in Armenia. This innovative tool will allow the customers to purchase Orange products and services directly from home or office. Customers can visit the e-shop from the company’s official website or just visit eshop.orangearmenia.am. A selection of the phones available at Orange shops, accessories, 3G modems with one year commitment or without commitment can be purchased at the e-shop. Customers can also purchase Orange Let’s Talk and Every Month services as well as recharge their balance and make monthly payments. Purchases on the e-shop are possible with ARCA plastic cards; Yerevan inhabitants can make the payments by cash as well. The delivery will be realized within 24 hours in Yerevan and within 72 hours in the regions of Armenia.
