Jane Fonda offered Nancy Reagan role in “The Butler”

PanARMENIAN.Net - Jane Fonda has apparently been offered the role of Nancy Reagan in Lee Daniels' The Butler. The Oscar-winning actress looks set to join Forest Whitaker, Oprah Winfrey and David Oyelowo in the Precious director's upcoming drama, Belfast Telegraph reported citing Variety.

Liam Neeson and John Cusack are reportedly considering roles as Lyndon B Johnson and Richard Nixon respectively, with Mila Kunis eyeing the part of Jackie Kennedy.

The period drama, based on a Washington Post article, tells the true story of Eugene Allen, a butler who served at the White House from 1952 to 1986 under eight US presidents.

Forest is already on board in the lead role, with Oprah in talks to play his wife and David as his son.

Lee - who was nominated for an Academy Award for 2009 drama Precious - has co-written the script with Game Change writer Danny Strong.
