ICES experts to monitor Armenian parliamentary elections

PanARMENIAN.Net - The observer mission of International expert Center for Electoral Systems (ICES) with 20 independent experts from EU member-countries, the U.S. and Israel, has been accredited by the Central Election Commission of Armenia (protocol №120-А from 14.04.2012) at the forthcoming parliamentary elections due May 6, 2012.

The ICES mission comprises members of European Parliament and national parliaments from the European countries, political analysts, lawyers and journalists form the U.S., Central European countries and Israel. The observer mission is headed by ICES president and director of the Institute of East European and CIS Alexander Tsinker.

As Mr. Tsinker told PanARMENIAN.Net the mission will monitor elections in Yerevan, Gyumri, Vanadzor and Armenia’s provisional centers.

“We aim to get maximum engagement in the election process, opening of electoral districts, the voting process and calculation of votes,” he said.

The mission comprises European Parliament members Ewald Stadler (Austria), Zita Gurmai (Hungary), John Swails from the U.S. and Baruch Ben Neria, the first ambassador of Israel to Armenia.

The results of parliamentary elections will be presented on May 7 at a press conference in Yerevan.

The International expert Center for Electoral Systems (ICES) is a nonprofit non-governmental public organization set up by a group of highly qualified experts in the fields of law, political science, diplomacy and sociology, coming from the USA, Great Britain, Netherlands, Germany and Israel.

The ICES experts have a vast experience in political monitoring and management of electoral preparations and processes in different countries.
