ROBERT KOCHARIAN: END OF WORLD WAR II WAS CRUCIAL FOR ARMENIA AND ARMENIAN PEOPLE

PanARMENIAN.Net - The end of the World War II and the establishment of peace were crucial for Armenia and the Armenian people, says a message of President of Armenia Robert Kocharian on the occasion of the Victory and Peace Day. In his words, Armenia got a historical opportunity for peaceful work and diversification. "Since 1992 May 9 became a double holiday for our people. With the liberation of Shushi [a town in Nagorno Karabakh] it acquired new significance. The holiday symbolizes the unbending will of our people in protecting its rights, securing itself and free development of all its regions," the message says. In the Armenian President's words, it is symbolical that the 10th anniversary of establishment of the cease-fire in the Nagorno Karabakh conflict is exactly on one of these days. "We perceive the entire importance of that and will abide by the principle of peaceful settlement of the Karabakh problem," the message says.
