Robert Downey Jr. to star in

PanARMENIAN.Net - After starring in mega-blockbuster film "The Avengers", Robert Downey Jr. might jump into a political comedy film called "El Presidente". Vulture broke the news that the "Iron Man" actor is expected to reunite with Tom Cruise in the movie to be directed by Jay Roach, AceShowbiz reported.

The presidential movie revolves around an overly-committed secret agent who is tasked to guard America's worst former president, who is a bumbling sleaze. It's a mundane and boring job - until there's a threat made on the ex-president's life, forcing the unlikely duo to go on the run together.

Downey Jr. is expected to star as the inglorious former president, while Cruise is eyed to tackle the part of the overzealous agent. The script, meanwhile, will be written by Dan Goor. Warner Bros. Pictures still hasn't set a start date for the project.

Should the "Sherlock Holmes" actor and the "Misssion: Impossible" thesp sign on to "El Presidente", the two will reunite after they last worked together in action comedy "Tropic Thunder". Through his role as Kirk Lazarus in the Ben Stiller-directed film, Downey Jr. got nominated for Best Supporting Actor at the 2008 Academy Awards.
