Cannes: James McAvoy, Jessica Chastain to star in “Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby” May 22, 2012 - 15:43 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - James McAvoy will star opposite Jessica Chastain in The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby, a unique double-feature project from Myriad Pictures, The Hollywood Reporter said. The story is an exploration of how a married couple in New York City deals emotional, life-altering experience, but it is being told in two movies and from two perspectives: one from the husband (McAvoy), a restaurant owner, and the wife (Chastain), who woman who goes back to college. The title of the two movies are The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby: His and The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby: Hers. Ned Benson (In Defiance of Gravity) wrote the two scripts and will direct both films Casting director-turned-producer Cassandra Kulukundis (There Will Be Blood, Shattered Glass) is producing. Myriad presented the script to buyers at the European Film Market in Berlin earlier this year and is now pre-selling the project in Cannes. Myriad CEO Kirk D’Amico said both films will be made to stand alone, although having both will make for a fuller look at the couple. He also said the possibility to make a double-feature such as this existed due to changing ways audiences consume movies. McAvoy, repped by UTA and United Agents, has a trio of projects in the can, among them a starring turn in Danny Boyle’s Trance. He last starred in X-Men: First Class.
