Cannes: AngelWorld to produce

PanARMENIAN.Net - AngelWorld Entertainment will finance and produce "The Devil in the Deep Blue Sea," TheWrap reported.

The film stars Jessica Biel, who not only will produce the film, but has also enlisted her fiancé Justin Timberlake to help with the project.

The "Sexy Back" singer will compose and serve as music supervisor for the film’s soundtrack. It's a welcome return for fans of Timberlake's music. The pop star has concentrated on acting in recent years and has not released an album since 2006's "FutureSex/LoveSounds."

"The Devil in the Deep Blue Sea" chronicles a widower's efforts to emerge from his grief over his wife's death through his friendship with an imaginative young girl. Co-starring opposite Biel are Chloë Grace Moritz ("Kick-Ass") and Jeffrey Dean Morgan ("Watchmen").

Bill Purple ("Private Practice") will direct from a script by Robbie Pickering ("Natural Selection").

Biel will produce with Michelle Purple under their Iron Ocean Films banner alongside Preferred Content’s Ross M. Dinerstein and AngelWorld’s Darby Angel. Principal photography is set to begin in the fall of 2012.

AngelWorld recently announced the launch of a $150 million equity fund dedicated to independent film productions resulting from a strategic alliance with Glenn Myles’ First Wall Street global merchant bank. "The Devil in the Deep Blue Sea" joins "The Big Shoe," starring Jim Sturgess and Susan Sarandon, on the company's slate of upcoming projects.

Biel is represented by Kim Hodgert of CAA and Management 360’s Suzan Bymel and Nicole King; Moretz by Elyse Scherz, Andrew Dunlap and Ari Emanuel of WME and 3 Arts Entertainment’s Pam Kohl; and Timberlake by Brandt Joel of WME.

CAA, which represents Pickering, set up financing for the film and represents its North American distribution rights.
