SCR to transport 50 thous. passengers to Georgia’s Black Sea resorts in 2012

PanARMENIAN.Net - The South Caucasus Railways (SCR) has run the firm’s passenger train Yerevan-Batumi for the first time this year.

As head of SCR passenger transportation department Gagik Movsisyan noted, the train will run every day from June 15-September 30, with the train’s compartments and berths having been fully upgraded.

He further stressed the SCR’s plan to increase the volume of passenger traffic during the holiday season.

“In 2009, the firm’s “Armenia” train serviced 16 263 passengers, 40 304 in 2010 and 42,3 thous in 2011, with the number expected to reach 50 thous. this year.

Dwelling on the ticket prices, Mr. Movsisyan noted that no significant changes have been observed. The second class ticket price totals about AMD 10 thous., with simple and upgraded compartment tickets costing AMD 14 thous. and 16 thous. respectively.

This year, too, SCR will continue organizing transit trips from Batumi to such Black Sea resorts as Sochi, for instance, the company’s press service reported.
