GM David Harutyunyan leads 5th Karen Asryan Memorial![]() June 20, 2012 - 16:27 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Georgia-based grandmaster David Harutyunyan beat Davit Lomsadze (Georgia) in the 4th round of 5th Karen Asryan Memorial, ongoing in Armenia’s town of Jermuk. With 3,5 points Harutyunyan tops the tournament standings. With the same points, Armenia’s Tigran Kotanjian and Hrayr Simonyan come 2nd and 3rd respectively. The tournament has brought together 60 chess players, with 15 grandmasters among them. Karen Asryan, the Armenian grandmaster, 2006 chess Olympian, died at the age of 28 in 2008. The Chess Giants tournament, which was stopped over his death, was later named after him.
