"Quartet" Dustin Hoffman’s directorial debut trailer released (video)

PanARMENIAN.Net - A first trailer for Dustin Hoffman's directorial debut, "Quartet", has landed online, AceShowbiz said.

Featuring a number of acclaimed veteran actors, the promotional video focuses on a group of elderly men who have to deal with a diva wannabe resident in a retirement home for opera singers.

Lifelong friends Wilf and Reggie, together with former colleague Cissy, are residents of the Beecham House. Every year on Giuseppe Verdi's birthday, the residents unite to give a concert to raise funds for their home.

But when Jean Horton, a former grande dame of the opera fallen on hard times who is also Reggie's ex-wife and the fourth and most celebrated member of their former quartet, moves into the home to everyone's surprise, the plans for this year's concert start to unravel.

As old grudges threaten to undermine past glories and theatrical temperaments play havoc with the rehearsal schedule, it becomes apparent that having four of the finest singers in English operatic history under one roof offers no guarantee that the show will go on.

Lining up in the cast ensemble of "Quartet" are Billy Connolly as Wilf, Tom Courtenay as Reggie, and Maggie Smith as Jean. Also supporting the dramedy are Ronnie Fox, Pauline Collins, Michael Gambon, Sheridan Smith and Albert Finney.

The Weinsten Company has yet to set a U.S. release date for the movie.
