PanARMENIAN.Net - After leaving "The Hunger Games" film franchise, director Gary Ross decides to work on a kid-friendly movie instead. The "Seabiscuit" helmer is in negotiations with Walt Disney Pictures to shepherd a Peter Pan prequel called "Peter and the Starcatchers", AceShow biz said citing The Hollywood Reporter.

It is said that Disney has been "closely watching for Ross' next move" after "The Hunger Games". Should the 55-year-old filmmaker seal the deal with the studio, he will team up with Jesse Wigutow who has been tapped to pen the script for the prequel.

An adaptation of a children's adventure novel by Dave Barry and Ridley Pearson, "Peter and the Starcatchers" revolves around the young Peter who makes friend to Molly, someone he meets on the Never Land ship during his journey to King Zarboff.

Molly tells Peter about a mysterious trunk which is stuffed with magical items that must not be claimed by pirate Black Stache, who is later known as Captain Hook. The duo then embark on a treacherous journey to discover the trunk.

As for Gary Ross, the "Pleasantville" director grabbed the headline when he abruptly left "The Hunger Games" franchise last April. Following his departure, the Los Angeles native was linked to Summit Entertainment's "The Secret Life of Houdini".
