HBO picks up “Bad Teacher” scribes’ “Hello Ladies” comedy pilot![]() July 24, 2012 - 19:12 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - HBO has picked up to pilot Hello Ladies, a comedy co-written, directed by and starring Stephen Merchant, Deadline said. The project, which The Office co-creator co-wrote with former Office writer-producers Lee Eisenberg and Gene Stupnitsky, stars the 6ft 7in Merchant as a gawky Englishman searching for the woman of his dreams in Los Angeles. Half as charming as he thinks he is — and twice as desperate — he’s obsessed with infiltrating the glamorous world of beautiful people. Unfortunately the beautiful people won’t let him in. Merchant, who also explored the theme in his Hello Ladies standup show last year, Eisenberg and Stupnitsky are executive producing the pilot, which is slated to shoot before the end of the year. HBO is producing in association with ABC Studios where Eisenberg and Stupnitsky are under an overall deal. On the feature side, Eisenberg and Stupnitsky, repped by WME and Mosaic, co-wrote box-office hit Bad Teacher. Writer/actor/standup comedian Merchant is best known for his collaborations with Ricky Gervais. The duo co-created The Office, Extras and Life’s Too Short, the last two co-produced and airing in the U.S. on HBO. Additionally, WME-repped Merchant co-starred opposite Gervais on Extras. In addition to Hello Ladies, HBO has Charles Randolph’s Cold War spy drama pilot. Partner news Oldman made his directorial debut in 1997 with the critically-acclaimed family drama "Nil by Mouth." Yuri Shevchukexpressed a wish to meet representatives of the Armenian rock, noting it as one of the key goals of his visit. The Hunger Games star joins a cast featuring John Malkovich, Ben Kingsley, Michael Sheen and Teresa Palmer. 100 officers raided businesses, homes and art galleries across the country including in Munich, Hamburg, Stuttgart and Cologne.
