Possible titles for “The Hobbit” 3rd installment revealed

PanARMENIAN.Net - Hot on the heels of Peter Jackson's announcement that "The Hobbit" is planned as a trilogy, reports surrounding the third film's title have run rampant. It has been rumored that the last chapter of the trilogy will be called either "The Hobbit: Riddles in the Dark" or "The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug," AceShowbiz said.

Fusible claims to have found a number of newly-registered domains, which are said to be related to "The Hobbit" film franchise. The site reported that on July 27, some domain names were privately bought through MarkMonitor, which is the same registrar responsible for managing the domains for TheHobbitAnUnexpectedJourney.com and TheHobbitThereandBackagain.com.

The Internet brand protection company was also the one of which The Saul Zaentz Company is a client. The newly-registered URLs included "desolationofsmaug.com", "riddlesindark.com", "thedesolationofsmaug.com", "thehobbitdesolationofsmaug.com" and some other similar names.

For those who are unfamiliar with the Hobbit tale, "Riddles in the Dark" is a title of one of the chapters in J.R.R. Tolkien's "The Hobbit" novel. As for "The Desolation of Smaug", the name refers to the lair of dragon Smaug, played by Benedict Cumberbatch.

Plot details of "The Hobbit 3" are still kept secret, but it has been rumored that the film will be released in the U.S. sometime in the summer of 2014. The first film "The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey" will make its way out onto theaters nationwide on December 14 this year, while its follow-up "The Hobbit: There and Back Again" will be released on December 13 next year.
