Bomb threat diverts New York - Moscow flight

PanARMENIAN.Net - A Russian Aeroflot flight from New York to Moscow has made an emergency landing in Iceland after a bomb threat, BBC News reported.

The Interfax news agency quoted air traffic controllers in Moscow as saying an anonymous call had been received warning a bomb was on board the plane.

The bomb threat was made to law enforcement officials in the US.

Aeroflot spokeswoman Irina Dannenberg said the pilot took the decision to land the plane and it landed safely. The plane is now being investigated.

She said about 200 passengers had been on board.

The anonymous caller warned that there were five suitcases on the plane containing explosives, which would detonate once it reached Moscow.

Another plane in Russia's southern Voronezh region was also searched after an anonymous threat, but no explosives were found.
