Armenia placed 79th in list of world’s healthiest countries

PanARMENIAN.Net - To identify the healthiest countries in the world, Bloomberg Rankings created health scores and health-risk scores for countries with populations of at least 1 million.

The agency subtracted the risk score from the health score to determine the country's rank. Five-year averages, when available, were used to mitigate some of the short-term year-over-year swings.

Life expectancy at birth, infant mortality and mortality in three age groups (under 14, from 15-65 and above) were considered when making the ranking list.

Tobacco and alcohol consumption, physical inactivity percentage, immunization degree and HIV-infection rate were also among the factors counted.

Singapore topped the list with 89,45 points, followed by Italy, Australia, Switzerland and Japan. Israel, Spain, the Netherlands, Sweden and Germany were also included in top ten of the world’s healthiest countries. Armenia and Lithuania shared the 79th place, with Georgia and Azerbaijan coming 77th and 87th respectively.

Mozambique, Chad, Congo, Lesotho and Swaziland bottomed Bloomberg's ranking list.
