Heritage proposes to appeal Armenian citizens’ voting restrictions abroad

PanARMENIAN.Net - Heritage opposition party’s parliamentary group head Ruben Hakobyan filed a note to Armenia's human rights defender Karen Andreasyan proposing to appeal in Constitutional Court Article 60 of Electoral Code as unconstitutional.

Heritage noted that under Article 30 of the Constitution, each Armenian citizen of legal age has right to elect and be elected; whereas under Article 60 of Electoral Code, diplomats and their family members outside of Armenia on the polling day have the right to vote, in contrast to other RA citizens abroad, the party’s press service reported.

According to Heritage, Article 60 of Electoral Code bans other RA citizens from exercising their constitutional right.
