Lenovo unveiling new laptops to seek world’s leadership

PanARMENIAN.Net - Lenovo, the No. 2 computer maker in the world, is unveiling some consumer laptops and tablets that it hopes will push it closer to No. 1, VentureBeat reports.

The Windows 7 laptops are upgradeable to Microsoft’s new Windows 8 operating system (coming Oct. 26) and they’re targeted at consumers who want affordable thin and light computers, without the extra price of Intel-based Ultrabooks.

Lenovo is announcing the portables at the IFA conference in Berlin Thursday, Aug 30. The S series is focused on affordable thin and light laptop. It has more variety in colors and it has metallic style. It is available in graphite gray, cotton candy pink, and crimson red.

The new 14-inch models include the IdeaPad S300, S400, and S405. The S series starts at $499 and goes up from there.

The company is launching a series of new Ideatab tablet computers that run the Android 4.0 operating system.
