Violinist Ruben Aharonyan awarded Culture Ministry’s gold medal![]() September 17, 2012 - 16:27 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - RA Ministry of Culture awarded People's Artist of Armenia and first violinist of Borodin Quartet Ruben Aharonyan with a gold medal for contribution to Armenian music, as well on the occasion of his 65th birthday. Ruben Aharonyan was born 1947, Riga, Latvia He has won Enescu Competition in Bucharest and Tchaikovsky Competition in Moscow (1974, second prize). Aharonyan studied at the Moscow State Conservatory with Professor Yuri Yankelevich, then he was a student of Leonid Kogan. In 1981 Aharonyan became the director of National Chamber Orchestra of Armenia. He has toured throughout Europe, North and South America.
