Apple includes Facebook integration in Mac OS X update September 21, 2012 - 13:24 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Apple has rolled out an OS X Mountain Lion v10.8.2 update for all users of Mac computers, introducing Facebook integration and other features, according to Digital Spy. After rolling out its new iOS 6 mobile operating system for iPads, iPhones and iPod Touch on September 19, the U.S. technology giant also introduced a software update for newer Macs. The update, recommended for all users of the latest OS X Mountain Lion, brings a range of new features and fixes to pre-existing issues. But the major new addition is the full integration of Facebook. Mountain Lion users can now sign in on Facebook once and then instantly share links and photos on the social network. They can see Facebook friends' contact information and profile pictures in Contacts, while Facebook notifications will also appear in the Notification Centre and Game Centre. Scores can now be shared on Facebook, Twitter, email and messages. Facebook friends are included in the Game Centre friend recommendations tab, and users can 'like' games as well. The update also brings Power Nap support to post-2010 MacBook Airs, as well as consolidated Apple IDs and phone numbers. Any iMessages sent to your phone number now also appear on your Mac. Equally, FaceTime can receive calls on the Mac sent to any iPhone that is running iOS 6. A range of fixes are also included in OS X Mountain Lion v10.8.2, including Twitter notifications for mentions and replies. URL shortening is available when tweeting from Notification Centre. There is support for the new @icloud.com email addresses, which will soon replace the @me.com versions, and Passbook support is added to Safari and mail. It is advisable to back up your system before installation.As with most Apple updates, you may experiences glitches with third-party software systems installed, such as the Open Office application, or if you have modified the system in any way, Digital Spy said.
