Nokia announces two cheap touchscreen smartphones![]() September 25, 2012 - 13:53 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Nokia has announced two cheap touchscreen smartphones Sept 25, the Asha 308 and Asha 309, The Inquirer reports. According to Nokia, the two handsets are the cheapest capacitive touchscreen handsets ever, with both set to retail for less than $97 before taxes and subsidies. These cheap prices are more than evident when it comes to the handsets' specifications. Sporting dual and single-SIM slots, respectively, the two phones both feature a 3in WQVGA touchscreens, an integrated FM radio, up to 32GB of internatl storage, WiFi and - wait for it - 2G connectivity. The Finnish firm seems fairly happy with the handsets though. Timo Toikkanen, EVP of mobile phones at Nokia said, "Our innovative Asha Touch family of devices is designed for people who want a great smartphone experience with lower running costs. By introducing the Nokia Asha 308 and Nokia Asha 309, we're expanding our affordable smartphone lineup and bringing new mobile experiences to more people." Partner news It’s not the first time Yahoo CEO Marissa Mayer has been interested in the New York-based hipster blogging service. The number of new smartphones delivered with Android jumped to 162.1 million in the first three months in 2013. “We believe Samsung generates more revenue and profit from the Android platform than Google does,” Neil Mawston said.
