Yerevan to host AIBA Youth World Boxing Championships

PanARMENIAN.Net - Yerevan will host 2012 AIBA Youth World Boxing Championships from November 25-December 8.

Armenia accepted International Boxing Association’s offer to host the event, after Thailand issued a refusal.

Delegations are planned to arrive in Armenia November 25-27, with Yerevan to host the opening ceremony Nov 28, according to the press service of Boxing Federation of Armenia.

Formerly called the AIBA World Cadet Championships, the AIBA Youth World Championships is the most prestigious event for young boxers aged 17 and 18.

Welcoming international athletes in 11 weight categories, the AIBA Youth World Boxing Championships allow boxers to compete against the best in their division with hopes of international stardom.

The athletes will compete in the following weight categories: 46-49kg, 52kg, 56kg, 60kg, 64kg, 69kg, 75kg, 81kg, 91kg, +91kg.
