“Sinister” Ethan Hawke confesses to liking deeply flawed characters

PanARMENIAN.Net - Ethan Hawke has revealed that he most enjoys playing characters who are deeply flawed, Digital Spy said.

The actor said in a recent interview that he was intrigued by the new horror film Sinister because his character Ellison deals with personal demons.

"Playing people who are perfect is a real bore. It really is," Hawke told Dread Central. "What I liked about Ellison was that he's well-meaning in some ways, but in other ways he's not."

He added of Ellison: "He's horribly ambitious and claims to be doing it all for his family, but really he's doing it for himself and his own ambition. I find those kinds of people much more interesting to play because, first of all, you don't know what they're going to do next because their motives are all over the place.

"Yet you have to try to give them some humanity so that audiences care about them regardless of their motives."

Hawke previously revealed that he was legitimately frightened by Sinister's tale of haunted home movies.

Sinister is now playing in the U.S. and the UK.
