Sky announces Sky Hub broadband router launchOctober 15, 2012 - 19:50 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Sky has today, October 15 announced the launch of Sky Hub, its new broadband router that is claimed to offer the best wireless range of all the routers offered by rival internet services providers (ISPs), Digital Spy said. Designed and built by Sky's in-house engineering team, the Sky Hub uses Smart Signal technology that scans for potential interference in the home, and then automatically selects the optimum wireless channel to give the best and most reliable connection. Sky says that the router provides the "best wireless range of all major ISPs' routers", based on what it claims is independent third-party research comparing rival BT, TalkTalk and Virgin Media routers in the home environment. The Sky Hub is also claimed to allow customers to get online "faster than ever before" via "straightforward instructions" for initial set-up, including WiFi Protected Setup (WPS) to secure the wireless network. "Designed and built exclusively for Sky customers, this state-of-the-art router delivers unbeatable wireless range throughout the home meaning customers can get online in parts of their home they couldn't before," Lyssa McGowan, the director of communications products at Sky, said. "Further enhancing the complete Sky experience, customers will benefit from greater connectivity, whether they're enjoying Sky Go in the garden, checking Facebook in the bedroom or interacting with Zeebox on the sofa. "Alongside the UK's only totally unlimited broadband service, free public WiFi and unbeatable customer satisfaction, Sky Broadband goes from strength to strength." The new Sky Hub comes as standard for any customers joining or switching their broadband to Sky from October 18. The router normally costs £69 but is being offered to existing Sky Broadband customers for £39 until January 2013. It works with both Sky's ADSL and fibre broadband services.
