ANC offers reform package for fair elections![]() October 16, 2012 - 16:52 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenian National Congress (ANC) parliamentary group leader has presented a reform package for conduction of fair elections. As Levon Zurabyan noted, the package envisages application of only proportional electoral system for the next parliamentary elections and removal of ballot numbering. He further dubbed release of the lists with voters’ signatures as another important step to be taken. Mr. Zurabyan also suggested presidential candidates be given airtime only for specified hours: 8 pm - 12 am. The ANC has launched talks with the ruling Republican Party of Armenia (RPA), Prosperous Armenia, Heritage and ARF Dashnaktsutyun parties, while ARFD already agreed to put the draft on vote. Grigoryan added that the situation around the world and particularly in the region is very difficult. The Armenian Defense Ministry has denied Azerbaijan's accusations of violating the ceasefire. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan took to social media to thank his Lithuanian counterpart for the contribution. President of the Armenian parliament Alen Simonyan met with the Speaker of the Azerbaijani Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova. Partner news |
