Armenian to submit NPP stress-test results to EU in May 2013

PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenia has launched a stress test at Nuclear Power Plant without waiting for the promised help from EU to arrive.

As the Chairman of the State Nuclear Safety Regulatory Commitее Ashot Martirosyan said, the decision to launch the stress test was taken in view of a delay at EU.

“With preliminary results of the tests conducted ready, we’re waiting for EU experts to discuss the relevant documents submitted. The first results will arrive in March 2013 to be submitted to EU consideration before May,” the official said.

“Following Fukushima disaster, Armenia, similar to other countries, is preparing to review technical approaches to safety provision, with new technical safety provision regulations to be submitted to the government next week,” Martirosyan concluded.
