The British actress has been given the nod for her performance in Roman Polanski's comedy drama Carnage, which also stars Jodie Foster, John C Reilly and Christoph Waltz. Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy's Gary Oldman and Shame's Michael Fassbender are battling it out for the European actor award, while Shame filmmaker Steve McQueen is also up for European director of the year. Michael Haneke's drama Amour leads the nominations with six nods including the coveted European film of 2012, while Steve's sexual drama Shame and Danish drama The Hunt follow with five nominations each. Other European films in the running include German drama Barbara, French comedy-drama Untouchable and Italian drama Caesar Must Die. Dame Helen Mirren will be presented with the European achievement in world cinema 2012 gong for her "outstanding body" of work at the ceremony, which will take place in Malta on December 1.
