Paper: Syunik governor skipped Meghri HPP groundbreaking ceremony![]() November 9, 2012 - 10:55 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - According to Zhoghovurd daily, Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan attended the laying of the foundation stone of Armenian-Iranian Meghri hydropower plant in Syunik province. However, it’s noteworthy that only Zangezur Copper and Molybdenum Combine CJSC General Manager Maxim Hakobyan came to meet the ruling Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) leader, President Sargsyan, with RPA member, Syunik province governor Suren Khachatryan absent. The paper tried to find out the reason behind Khachatryan’s absence, however, “the latter didn’t answer the phone as usual,” the daily says. ![]() ![]() Grigoryan added that the situation around the world and particularly in the region is very difficult. The Armenian Defense Ministry has denied Azerbaijan's accusations of violating the ceasefire.
