DPA against Prosperous Armenia’s participating in presidential race![]() November 23, 2012 - 15:35 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Head of Armenia's Democratic Party has slammed the proposal on shift to parliamentary system of government as groundless. “The party having put forth the idea seeks backing of political forces ahead of presidential elections,” Aram Sargsyan said, adding that parliamentary government will bring about no positive changes. Mr. Sargsyan further deemed it more correct for Prosperous Armenia to have come up with the proposal before the parliament race. Heritage party board deputy-chairman Armen Martirosyan, in turn, noted that the shift will benefit Armenia, creating a more balanced political scene. “Prosperous Armenia party would rather focus on parliamentary activities rather than presidency if it strives for a shift to parliamentary government,” Mr. Martirosyan said. ![]() ![]() Grigoryan added that the situation around the world and particularly in the region is very difficult. The Armenian Defense Ministry has denied Azerbaijan's accusations of violating the ceasefire. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan took to social media to thank his Lithuanian counterpart for the contribution.
