Samsung may release Galaxy S2 Plus in early 2013

PanARMENIAN.Net - Samsung is reportedly set to release an updated version of its Galaxy S2 smartphone during the opening months of 2013.

According to tomshardware.com, SamMobile claims that a Samsung Galaxy S2 Plus handset is being prepared for a Q1 2013 release. The handset will launch with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, in addition to the latest version of the TouchWiz UI.

Also set to be included in the device is 8GB of storage and a choice of two colors -- white or blue. It's currently unclear whether Samsung will implement improvements for the phone's engine such as increased RAM or a quad-core processor.

The report arrives six months following the launch of the S2's successor, the commercially successful Galaxy S3. The latter has broken records and set new ones since its release; it sold 20 million units during its first 100 days of availability, which was followed by the smartphone selling a further 10 million units to surpass an impressive milestone.

In addition, the Galaxy S3 overtook Apple's iPhone 4S as the best-selling smartphone on the planet during the last quarter. More recently, Samsung launched the device's little brother in the form of the Galaxy S3 Mini. As for the unannounced Galaxy S4, speculation has suggested an unveil during CES in January, 2013.
