4 Armenian trucks cross Upper Lars checkpoint amid traffic jam reports![]() November 27, 2012 - 15:44 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - The situation at Upper Lars checkpoint became more stable. As a transportation company director told PanARMENIAN.Net 4 trucks with Armenian cargo have already crossed the Russian-Georgian border. Earlier, a traffic jam was reported at Upper Lars checkpoint over a shift to winter schedule, allowing to cross the border from 7 am to 6pm only. A major line of trucks had been formed at the site, with truck drivers left without a chance to procure food or water. Over a hundred trucks from Armenia, Ukraine, Azerbaijan were waiting to cross the Russian-Georgian border. According to checkpoint employees, a shift to round-the-clock service would solve the situation best. The issue is being considered at Russia’s Federal Customs Service and Border Administration. Changes in the checkpoint operations are expected next year, with no specific date provided.
