The company withdrew the slate in early October after discovering a build defect that allowed moisture to seep in between its screen and casing. Sony previously confirmed on its Japanese website that the product would gradually return to stores in November, a promise it kept with just days to spare. Sony had already distributed around 100,000 Xperia S tablets in Europe, the US and Japan when the flaw was detected, but honoured a free inspection and repairs agreement for users affected by the issue. Running Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, the tablet is powered by a speedy NVIDIA Tegra 3 quad-core processor and is backed by an extensive media library courtesy of the Sony Entertainment Network. The Sony Xperia Tablet S retailed in the UK from £329, with the price tag climbing for models with higher memory. Partner news Google has a widely used mapping tool and could adopt Waze’s technology to add social features to the software. The deal comes as Makani carries out the first fully autonomous flights of robot kites bearing its power-generating propellers. The validity period of BIT service is 30 days; the service cost is AMD 2500, with the maximum Internet speed of 384 kbps.
