Sony patents hybrid PlayStation motion controllerDecember 4, 2012 - 20:51 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Sony appears to have patented a hybrid DualShock controller with built-in PlayStation Move support, Digital Spy said. The filing depicts a gamepad similar in design to the standard PS3 controller, except it features twin Move orbs and splits into two. Dubbed the Hybrid Separable Motion Controller, the device would allow two players to take part in motion-controlled titles with a single controller, or one player to tackle a motion-controlled game with Move features to hand. The pad features the vibration and accelerometer functionality of a DualShock controller and uses the PlayStation Eye to translate its movement on-screen. Sony has not confirmed whether the controller will be compatible with current PS3 consoles, or exclusive to its next generation successor. In fact, the company is yet to officially announce that the Hybrid Separable Motion Controller is in development.
