PanARMENIAN.Net - Anchor Bay Entertainment has acquired U.S. and Canadian rights to "Mimesis: Night of the Living Dead" from Dead Weight Productions, TheWrap reported.

In addition, Meyers Entertainment has signed a deal to represent the horror thriller in the rest of the world.

The film has been screening in roughly 25 film festivals and conventions over the past year and getting good buzz from the thrills and chills crowd, Seth Willenson, the executive producer said.

It centers on a group of horror fans who engage in a role playing game that emulates classic movies from the genre. In true horror fashion, the game in question takes some gory turns that seem straight out of a George A. Romero splatter-fest.

"Mimesis" stars Sid Haig (Rob Zombie's "The Devil's Rejects") and Courtney Gains ("Children of the Corn"). The film was directed by Doug Schulze ("Dark Fields") and produced by Schulze and Kurt Mayry ("Dark Heaven").
