ICES expert: Armenia faces practical problem in electoral processes

PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenia’s electoral legislation is in line with the international democratic principles, according to International expert Center for Electoral Systems (ICES).

According to ICES experts, the electoral code gives complete descriptions of all of the processes, allowing for conduction of free, fair and transparent polls.

ICES expert Lydia Lawson, in turn, noted that similar to other post-Soviet countries, the problem in Armenia is linked to the practical implementation of the electoral code.

“This may adversely affect the electoral processes,” the expert told Dec 21 press conference.

ICES head Alexander Tsinker, in turn, stressed the need for all those involved in the electoral processes to express readiness to contribute to the conduction of free and fair polls in the pre-election phase.
